Weather Unit

B and I finished up the weather unit.
This unit was shorter than the last. We had a vacation and kidney infection and fall break that fell right in the middle of the month. (The impromptu fall break is the reason I probably won't ever homeschool B!)

B's gotten really good at his colors lately. Don't know if it's time or "school" but I like to think school! He can identify all his colors, but if you ask him what color something is he calls red green.

We started out the unit with the rain books.
B made a rain cloud out of shaving cream and an eye dropper.

Graminator brought B back an umbrella from one of her trips. It could not have been a better timed gift. B and I tested it out in the shower. Then later when it really rained I tried to get B to use the umbrella, but he preferred the sopping wet feel!

We also made rain sticks. Well, we tried! They're great for a craft but don't work as well as the real thing. We also learned the difference between thick and thin. The thick rain stick worked way better than the thin.

After rain was wind and snow. B made and "flew" a kite. Then we made snow and decorated a snow man.

For sunny weather we made a sun and felt the difference between hot water and cold water. Then we traced and colored B's shadow while we waited around at the shop.

Then we rounded out the unit with months and leaves. B learned the Macarana months song and jumped to the different months. Then we made a tree like the one Bear tried to make in the book "Leaves."

The letters this month were G and H. B made a gorilla. We played with glitter and grass. We ate goldfish and honey. Made hearts and bought a gum ball machine. I also made golf clubs and tried to get be to play- he was more interested in throwing the balls than using the clubs. Out of everything we've done in school so far that gumball machine is his all time favorite!

Our verse was Jesus calms the winds and the seas. We mostly talked about the weather and who makes and controls it and then pray about/for it. So the coloring pic is all we have for this one.
